The Therapy Process
While each person’s therapy journey is unique, here’s a roadmap of our time together:
01.
explore PHASE
1-2 sessions a week
In our initial phase, we’ll explore the struggles, desires, and goals you have. I will then design a bespoke therapeutic plan that draws from CBT techniques or other therapeutic approaches such as family therapy, mindfulness, art therapy & coaching.
02.
TREATMENT PHASE
sessions every 1-2 weeks
As we move into the treatment phase of therapy, we will unpack the negative experiences & beliefs that have shaped you until now. With therapeutic tools and self-care practices, I will help you unlearn negative patterns and instil healthier boundaries, beliefs and behaviours.
03.
MAINTENANCE PHASE
sessions every 1-3 months
As your progress reaches a steady and optimal place, we’ll meet periodically for therapy sessions whenever you need a boost or some reinforcement. My goal is to give you the tools to thrive outside of therapy, with resilience and self-compassion.

Dear Janice,
“having struggled with depression & anxiety for years, I’ve seen quite a few psychiatrists & psychologists, but none of them improved my life like janice did. she helped me identify my cognitive distortions and how to practice mindfulness in my daily life. she brilliantly implemented art therapy in my sessions, which brought such joy and peace. I am deeply touched by our sessions.”

Q&A
-
The difference between reaching out to a friend and a therapist is the unconditional acceptance the therapist offers, from an impartial position.
As a certified psychotherapist, I am also able to identify any underlying mental health concerns that need to be addressed in order for you to truly thrive.
I am not just here to comfort you, but to offer effective, evidence-based tools and techniques that will help you experience real long-term change in your life.
-
Each person’s therapy journey is unique. As described in the Process section above, there are 3 phases during which sessions can vary in frequency and duration, depending on the person.
Ultimately, how long you decide to benefit from counselling care is always up to you! We will create a treatment plan during our first phase.
-
Yes, anything you share with your therapist will remain strictly confidential.
However, according to the professional code of conduct I follow, there are some limitations to this confidentiality rule. For example, if there is an immediate risk of serious harm to a particular person’s safety, or when a client’s information is subpoenaed by a court.

I provide online and in-person therapy sessions.
Online therapy gives you the convenience of being in the comfort and privacy of your own home, no matter where you are in the world.
I provide in person therapy in various locations, including Jordan, Wanchai and Central. Each location provides slightly different facilities for different needs and treatment modalities. We can further discuss about determining a location that suits you. -
As a Hong Kong based psychotherapist for women, I have lived and was educated in different countries and cities. I am attuned to both eastern and western cultures, and am particularly aware of the Asian female experience.
Having had a commercial career before becoming a psychotherapist, I understand intimately the stresses of a high-performing culture. I‘m committed to supporting women’s mental health and work with women ranging from doctors to lawyers, from corporate executives to stay-home mothers.
I believe in a holistic approach to mental health, and love blending the structure of CBT with more creative tools like mindfulness and visualisation. If this resonate with you, I’d love to connect with you to see if we’re the right fit.

All sessions are by appointment only while whatsapp and emails are strictly used for booking sessions or checking in when given homework/tasks. I will only reply briefly to questions. If there is a need for further discussion, I would encourage you to book in a therapy session.
Hong Kong is a small place and there could be times therapists and clients bump into each other in public. To protect your confidentiality, I will not approach you or greet you in public, unless you want to do so then I’ll gladly greet you.
